K-12 and Postsecondary Education: Same Issues, Same Consequences.
Overview & Synopsis
Both elementary/secondary education and postsecondary education are responsible to some degree for existing conditions that foster underachievement in students, many of them poor students or students of color. Barriers at the K-12 level include unequal learning opportunities and inadequately trained teachers. Barriers in postsecondary education include poor articulation with elementary/secondary education and inadequate teaching. (MSE)
