This is a book about the use of computers in airplanes. This book is
organized into three parts. The first provides background material on aircraft
and air traffic that is necessary to understand the requirements of the
computing systems discussed in the book. The second part describes a spectrum of
avionics components, discussing their specific requirements and design concerns.
The third part looks at general dependability issues in avionics, from both the
computer engineering and the human-computer interaction perspectives.
