Kyrgyz Republic - Water Supply and Sanitation Universal Access Program Project

Overview & Synopsis

The objective of the Water Supply and Sanitation Universal Access Program Project is to increase access to water supply and sanitation (WSS) services and improve the service delivery capacity in Selected Areas of the Kyrgyz Republic. The project has five components, the first being water supply investments. This component will finance the construction and upgrade of water supply systems in 126 rural villages and small towns in the Chui, Issyk-Kul, and Osh regions, benefitting around 450,000 people. This component includes two subcomponents: water supply access to the unserved and upgrades. The second component is the Sanitation Development. This component will finance priority on-site sanitation investments, including household and public sanitation infrastructure, FSM services improvements, and technical assistance (TA) to design more complex sewerage improvements. The third component is the performance-based service improvement program. This component includes service delivery improvements and professional and vocational development programs. The fourth component is the MPA program structure, management, and institutional development support. This component will finance TA and institutional capacity building for the establishment of a program management framework and WSS infrastructure development capacity. Finally, the fifth component is the contingent emergency response. This component will provide preparedness and rapid response measures to address disaster, emergency, and/or catastrophic events in accordance with the applicable CERC manual.
