Teacher Education Reform: The View from Accreditation.
Overview & Synopsis
Accreditation is one of the institutionalized forces that now affects schools, colleges, and universities. Whether regional (institutional) or specialized (program specific), this form of evaluation has become well entrenched over the past 30-60 years. The purpose of this paper is to discuss some of the political/economic forces in the teacher education reform movement from the view of accrediting agencies with particular focus on that of the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
