Teaching as a Profession: Redefining Our Concepts.
Overview & Synopsis
This article draws a distinction between two conflicting concepts that have impaired perceptions of teaching as a profession; that between "teacher training" on the one hand, and "teacher education" on the other. The phrase teacher training may have been appropriate at one time but it is no longer appropriate. (JD)
