Gabon - Urban Development Project
Overview & Synopsis
The objective of the Urban Development Project for Gabon is to improve access to climate-resilient urban infrastructure and public facilities and reduce flood risk in selected cities. There are four components to the project, the first component being integrated urban development in selected cities. This component finances investments in climate-resilient urban infrastructure and services, while providing targeted technical assistance and capacity support to national and municipal governments. This component includes two subcomponents: integrated resilient urban infrastructure and public facilities, and strengthening the capacity of cities, communities, and the national government for resilient urban planning and management. The second component is the flood risk reduction infrastructure. This component will finance stormwater drainage infrastructure and flood risk reduction measures, including gray infrastructure and NBS. The third component is project management, coordination, monitoring, and evaluation. This component will finance project management activities in line with the World Bankβs policies and guidelines. It will support the Borrower in the preparation and implementation of E&S safeguard instruments, project coordination, and supervision of works. Additional activities will include resource management, procurement, and monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of project activities, including data collection, communication, audits, and the preparation of reports. Finally, the fourth component is the contingent emergency response component.
