An Evidence-Based Approach for Identifying Physical Education and Physical Activity School Website Content
Overview & Synopsis
Physical educators can utilize their school's website to advocate for the profession by providing transparent and comprehensive information about physical education and physical activity programming. Data collected from over 3,500 individual school websites--analyzed in seven studies published in various education and public health journals between 2019 and 2024--are used to recommend seven primary categories that should be included on a school website or physical education webpage: physical education, curriculum, teacher information, visual images of physical activity, interscholastic sports, intramural sports and physical activity, and recess. This article identifies what minimally and optimally should be included for each category and provides an example for a fictitious school.
