Discourse in Adult Education: The Language Education of Adult Immigrants in Sweden.
Overview & Synopsis
A shortcoming of adult education theories is lack of attention to social, historical, and institutional contexts. A case study of language education programs for adult immigrants in Sweden illustrates how assumptions about participant-centered, needs-based education justified and legitimated the use of these programs as a tool for employment opportunities.
