The Opportunity to Scale Climate Mitigation and Development through Results-Based Climate Finance and Carbon Markets
Overview & Synopsis
Countries require huge volumes of financing to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement. Climate finance needs for LICs and MICs are expected to range from US$ 1.7 to 3.4 trillion per year globally by 2030 to fund measures to fight climate change.1 Investment needs could be even higher if interventions are delayed, spending is inefficient, or policies are inadequate. In LICs and MICs, each year of delaying resilience-enhancing policies in infrastructure sectors could also cost an additional $100 billion in avoidable disaster impacts.
