Kyrgyz Republic - Additional Financing to the Learning for the Future Project
Overview & Synopsis
This paper seeks World Bank management's approval for a first additional financing (AF) of 4.36 million US dollars through an International Development Association (IDA) credit for the ongoing Learning for the Future Project, complemented by a two million US dollar grant from the Early Learning Partnership (ELP). The AF aims to enhance the Project Development Objective (PDO) by improving the regulatory framework for full-day early childhood education and care (ECEC) services, expanding access to quality-aligned ECEC spaces, and providing teacher training to boost school readiness and teaching effectiveness. It also supports the government's goal to broaden ECEC access for children aged 1–5. New activities will be integrated into existing project components to reinforce the unchanged PDO, with the AF closing date set for December 30, 2028.
