Strengthening Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) in Ghana’s Secondary and Technical Education : Completion Note
Overview & Synopsis
Ghana is seeking to strengthen Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and technical education as part of its broader effort to build human capital, improve productivity, and respond to growing labor market demand for technical and digital skills. In this context, understanding the magnitude and underlying causes of weak participation and outcomes in STEM education is important for identifying priority reforms and strategic investments. In this context, the study A Diagnosis of STEM Education in Ghana’s General and Technical Secondary Schools was commissioned to diagnose enrollment levels in STEM education and the quality of training at the secondary level, including employability skills development, in Ghana’s general and technical secondary schools. This activity contributes directly to the Ghana Accountability for Learning Outcomes Project. This note summarizes the key findings, lessons learned, and strategic recommendations emerging from the study.
