Pakistan Energy Efficiency : Knowledge Notes
Overview & Synopsis
Pakistan Energy Efficiency, Knowledge Notes are an initiative of the World Bank, aimed at fostering debate and dialogue on energy efficiency initiatives that are critical for the sustainable growth of Pakistan. These notes present a case for immediate action by the government and industry to achieve Pakistan’s energy efficiency and conservation potential. The notes pinpoint major energy efficiency and decarbonization (EE&D) opportunities in Pakistan’s buildings and industrial sectors (including key sub-sectors such as cement, steel, fertilizers, textiles, and paper and pulp). Through extensive research, data collection, and analysis, the knowledge pieces propose immediate and long-term EE&D strategies and investments for adoption by national and provincial authorities, including NEECA and its regional counterparts, and industry. These strategies are designed to advance Pakistan’s energy conservation and climate objectives and to shape the World Bank Group’s policy discussions with the Government on energy efficiency.
