Global Gas Flaring Tracker Report : July 2025
Overview & Synopsis
In 2024, global flare volumes rose to 151 billion cubic meters (BCM), the highest level since 2007, continuing the upward trend in flaring that began in 2023. The increasing waste of associated gas through flaring occurs at a time of heightened energy security risks and persistent challenges providing reliable energy access to more than a half billion people in developing countries. The share of total flaring from the top nine flaring countries - Russia, Iran, Iraq, the United States, Venezuela, Algeria, Libya, Mexico, and Nigeria - has increased from 65 percent in 2012 to 76 percent of total flaring in 2024. All top flaring countries saw an increase in their flaring intensity compared to 2012, except for Iraq and the United States. As we navigate the complexities of the global energy landscape, the insights and data presented in this report are invaluable. The report explores the findings of the 2025 global gas flaring tracker report and identifies solutions, and the actions needed to create a more secure, accessible, and sustainable energy future for all.
