Overview & Synopsis

The development objective of the Integrated Resilient Development Project for Viet Nam is to enhance access to resilient infrastructure and planning and management capacity for disaster-resilient development at the provincial level. This project consists of two components. The first component, support to Da Nang City, supports investments to improve flood risk management and transport connectivity in the Truong Giang River basin, which is a hydrologically complex and densely populated corridor prone to recurrent flooding, erosion, and service disruption. The component comprises four subcomponents. Subcomponent 1a, rehabilitating selected sections of the Truong Giang River channel, including dredging and constructing riverbank protections, will rehabilitate approximately 60 kilometers (km) of the Truong Giang River to restore its drainage and navigation functions. Subcomponent 1b, constructing a flood by-pass channel, including combined water gate and ship lock, to divert flood water to the Truong Giang River, will finance the construction of approximately 2.38 km flood bypass canal and a combined water control complex, including a ship lock and water gate. Subcomponent 1c, construction of selected bridges across Truong Giang River, upports the construction of up to six new bridges to replace outdated and undersized structures that currently constrain both transport and water flow. Subcomponent 1d, project management and implementation support, will support the effective and timely implementation of sub-components 1a, 1b, and 1c by financing key project management and operational activities. The second component, Support to Gia Lai Province, supports targeted transport infrastructure investments to enhance disaster preparedness and regional connectivity in Gia Lai Province. The component comprises three subcomponents. Subcomponent 2a, constructing selected roads and bridges to enhance access between NH19C and Quy Nhon Port, will finance the construction of a new road, approximately 6.35 km, linking National Highway 19C to Quy Nhon Port, one of the provinceโ€™s most critical economic and logistics hubs. Subcomponent 2b, constructing and rehabilitating selected coastal roads and bridges to enhance access between An Luong Commune and Hoai Nhon Dong Commune, will support the upgrade and completion of a 38.14 km section of the provincial coastal road, connecting key coastal settlements in An Luong and Hoai Nhon Dong communes. Subcomponent 2c, project management and Implementation support, will support the effective and timely implementation of sub-components 2a and 2b by financing key project management and operational activities.
