Overview & Synopsis

The Climate-Smart Health Systems Collaborative of the Joint Learning Network held its second collaborative-wide in-person meeting in Manama, Bahrain from October 5-9, 2025 in Manama, Bahrain from October 5-9, 2025. Launched in February 2024, the Collaborative aims to help strengthen the capacity of governments in climate-smart health systems by bringing together practitioners and policymakers from a diverse set of countries namely Bahrain, Belize, Bhutan, Colombia, Ethiopia, Egypt, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Mongolia, Morocco, Nigeria, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Saint Lucia, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, United Arab Emirates, and Vietnam. Together, practitioners and policymakers from these 21 countries learn from each other through the sharing of lessons and innovations, solve common challenges, and co-produce knowledge to support countries’ access to knowledge, cross-country learning, and capacity building on climate change adaptation, resilience, and mitigation in the health sector, as an integral part of country efforts to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC). The second meeting of the Collaborative builds on the progress among collaborative participants since the launch meeting held in Washington DC, and the subsequent authors’ workshop held in New Delhi, where participants identified six workstreams for focus during the co-production phase of the collaborative (2024-2026).
