Chapeau : Synthesis Report IWRM Governance in Nepal Final - A Synthesis
Overview & Synopsis
This synthesis examines the opportunities and challenges associated with implementing Integrated Water Resources Management in Nepal, where water resources remain underutilized despite substantial demand and complex governance arrangements under federalization. Prepared under the GRID PASA with support from the Korea Green Growth Trust Fund, the analysis supports Nepal’s transition toward integrated water management and contributes to policy and civic dialogue at the local level. It assesses the enabling environment, institutional framework, management instruments, and water-use practices in the Roshi and Lower Bheri sub-basins. The work also explores emerging local governance dynamics and proposes participatory planning, stakeholder engagement, and consensus-building approaches to strengthen the sustainable and coordinated management of Nepal’s water resources.
