Inclusive Education for Indigenous Students in the Indonesian Context
Overview & Synopsis
The story of indigenous children and their education from Southeast Asia regions is lacking. This paper is intended to discuss the education of indigenous students in Indonesia, which covers a majority of Indigenous People in the Southeast Asian region. In our paper, we wish to show some examples that will allow us to learn and gain a sense of how indigenous students, with or without disabilities, are educated within the country's journey towards inclusive education. This paper is not aimed at canvassing all possible approaches to the education of indigenous students. Instead, we focus on the policy and access to quality education and have a particular interest in how Indonesia interprets and finds within their resources, the provision of an environment for learning that is as inclusive as possible.
