Overview & Synopsis

The World Bank (WB) Universal Accessibility (UA) Toolbox is a comprehensive resource designed to support the integration of UA into infrastructure projects across the following key sectors – urban development, disaster risk management, transport, water, and digital development. Developed in collaboration with the World Bank and Arup and supported by the Quality Infrastructure Investment (QII) Partnership, the Toolbox aims to move beyond advocacy and provide practical, adaptable tools for WB teams and stakeholders to embed UA into every phase of infrastructure development. The Toolbox is structured into three interconnected Toolkits – the UA Client Engagement Toolkit, the UA Design & Engineering Toolkit and the UA Operations & Maintenance Toolkit - each offering targeted guidance and resources relating to engagement, design and operations. The Toolbox structures UA across all WB project phases and infrastructure lifecycle stages, and offers a single, consolidated resource for UA. Cross-referenced recommendations across the three Toolkits ensure integration and alignment, reducing fragmentation and supporting the move from advocacy to action
