Vanuatu - Affordable and Resilient Settlements Project : Additional Financing
Overview & Synopsis
The objectives of the Additional Financing of the Affordable and Resilient Settlements Project for Vanuatu is to: (i) improve access to and resilience of infrastructure and services in selected new and existing settlements, and (ii) strengthen land planning and management for resilient human settlement. The AF is comprised of (i) 12 million dollars to replenish resources drawn down under the Rapid Response Option (RRO) following the December 2024 earthquake, and (ii) 16 million dollars in scale‑up financing from the IDA Crisis Response Window (CRW). It includes an 18-month extension of the project closing date, to December 29, 2028. The AF leverages the existing operation to support post-earthquake recovery while reinforcing longer‑term resilience and development outcomes. The AF supports livelihoods recovery, productivity gains, and economic activity by strengthening land administration and revenue mobilization systems, improving access to urban services, and enabling reconstruction. The scale‑up investments are expected to generate both short‑term employment during reconstruction and longer‑term job creation through improved access to markets, land, and urban services.
