Macro Poverty Outlook for Bhutan : April 2026 Datasheet
Overview & Synopsis
Growth accelerated to 8.1 percent in FY24/25, driven by new hydropower projects and tourism recovery, but youth unemployment remained high at 20.6 percent. The fiscal deficit widened to 2.6 percent of GDP, and the current account deficit (CAD) remained elevated. Growth is projected at 7.1 percent in FY25/26, with poverty declining, with risks stemming from higher fuel prices and fiscal pressures linked to the Middle East conflict.
