Sentinel
Overview & Synopsis
Sentinel is an artificial intelligence–driven technology designed to address the challenges of biodiversity conservation in vast and remote natural areas where traditional monitoring methods are often costly, labor-intensive, and slow. The platform combines field‑deployable smart devices with satellite, LoRaWAN, and cellular connectivity, a robust backend for training and deploying custom AI models, and a suite of software tools and dashboards for real-time visualization and response. Integrated with camera traps, Sentinel devices identify species and events as they occur, filter relevant information in the field, and deliver actionable insights in near real time. By enabling rapid detection of threats such as human–wildlife conflict, invasive species, habitat destruction, wildlife trafficking, and zoonotic diseases, Sentinel allows conservation teams to act swiftly and effectively. Deployed across multiple countries and use cases, the technology has demonstrated its ability to enhance early warning, improve response times, and support data‑driven conservation management, even in the most inaccessible regions.
