La transizione energetica come questione sociale
Overview & Synopsis
Energy plays a central role in the relationship between society, nature and technology, but these interconnections are often not readily apparent. This situation stems from the structure of energy systems, which are based on large production centres located far from the points of consumption and on centralised forms of supply and control. The ecological and climate crisis is helping to challenge this structure, sparking a debate on decentralisation as a possible alternative. This book analyses the shift from the current paradigm towards more distributed forms of generation and control, using the example of Renewable Energy Communities β understood as socio-technical innovations that enable groups of stakeholders to collectively produce and manage renewable energy at a local level. Through an analysis of the Italian context and a case study in the city of Bologna, the book explores the potential and limitations of these initiatives, offering a sociological perspective on energy transition processes.
