The volume offers insights into new theoretical approaches that should make it possible to analyse cultural change through migration. It focuses on concrete activities in local contexts and their significance for national narratives. Finally, it presents newer approaches in migration studies that use artistic methods and work with cultural institutions to drive cultural change.

Walenty from Widawa, the son of the burgher Wawrzyniec, began studies at the Krakow Academy in 1562, he graduated in 1569 receiving a master’s degree. In 1579 he began his theological studies and graduated in 1582 to obtain a baccalaureate, and after five years a doctorate in theology. He taught theology at the Faculty of Theology. In 1574 he became dean of the Faculty of Philosophy at the Krakow Academy, twice he was elected a rector: in the years 1595–1596 and 1600–1601. In his will, he wrote his collection, consisting of about 350 copies, to the parish of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Widawa. The text of this testament has survived in the archives of the Jagiellonian University, and in the files of the temple in Widawa, a catalog of books given by the rector Walenty to Widawa. Widavita’s library contained literary texts of Greek and Roman authors, dictionaries, grammar textbooks, old editions of the Bible, postillions, biblical commentaries, apostolic letters, sermons, chronicles, a catalog of church writers and numerous theological treatises, numerous texts by Polish authors. Widavita’s library is proof of the intellectual contacts of the professor with research and printing centers in Europe.

The book is an adaptation of an investigation presented to the César Vallejo University, whose objective was to analyze the achievements and difficulties in the implementation of the School Management Commitments (CGE) in virtuality. The study had a qualitative approach, phenomenological design. The managers of public educational institutions in Lima (Peru) were taken as the unit of analysis, the research was approached from phenomenology, using semi-structured interviews. The results found allowed to demonstrate a collaborative work in said institutions and by commissions; schedule compliance; workday; feedback to students; strategic alliances with Health Centers; monitoring through unannounced visits to strengthen pedagogical practice. On the other hand, the difficulties encountered were the problems of scarce technological resources, low signal and lack of internet for the use of schoolchildren; transfer of students from private schools; Constant changes of educational institution. It was concluded that in order to comply with the CGE, the participation of the entire educational community must be available, directly involving the directors to provide pedagogical support and monitoring of the teachers.

In this book, conventional and new methods through which sustainability can be promoted in mathematics and science subjects are described and discussed. The aim of the book is to support teachers and teacher educators in their work, and to create a multi-sided view on sustainability, and on education for sustainable development. Curriculums and teaching approaches for the implementation of sustainability in schools and universities, especially in teacher education, are discussed. The pedagocical studies presented give useful examples of how sustainability can be included in mathematics, physics and biology education. The described teaching methods are discussed also in relation to students' competence and learning outcomes. In addition, valuable ideas are presented for the development of curriculums and teaching practices in higher education and schools. The book is suited for all teachers and researchers who are interested in sustainability and sustainable development, and want to develop their teaching in higher education and schools.

Both infrastructure and research, make communications and exchanges between distant places possible. As a consequence, geographic positions and administrative borders are less and less significant compared to the polarity of the individual cities. From the port and infrastructural systems’ point of view, Trieste, can closely resemble this model by strengthening the two drivers for development, quality of life and employment opportunity. The specificity that needs to be investigated is the complex system that joins port logistics with innovation promoted by AREA Science Park among others.

The more than century-old Memoirs of a Sacromonte Schoolboy, written in 1917 by José María Caparrós Lorencio (1876-1935), a former student who had been ─in the last years of the 19th century─ under the learned tutelage of the College -Seminar of Theologians and Jurists of San Dionisio Areopagita, founded in the flourishing Granada of the early 17th century. As highlighted in a review at the time of its original publication, "for readers eager to learn about the history of national education, they are very instructive because they show, in vivid pictures, a surviving example of ancient educational institutions, and for the artist searching for typical scenes, they are of real interest due to the uniqueness of some of the subjects painted in rich colours by the passionate disciple of the institution that shaped his spirit in his early youth" , a highly authoritative testimony thus, of its pedagogical regime, as well as that of the life of the schoolchildren, as authentic as it is representative of one of those shifts in liberal educational policy which, invoking freedom of education, opted, albeit hesitantly, for greater leeway in the coexistence of non-public educational centres and in the recognition of the studies undertaken in them.

Spectral lines, widths, and shapes are powerful tools for emitting/absorbing gas diagnostics in different astrophysical objects (from the solar system to the most distant objects in the universe—quasars). On the other hand, experimental and theoretical investigations of laboratory plasma have been applied in spectroscopic astrophysical research, especially in research on atomic data needed for line shape calculations. Data on spectral lines and their profiles are also important for diagnostics, analysis, and the modelling of fusion plasma, laser-produced plasma, laser design and development, and various plasmas in industry and technology, like light sources based on plasmas or the welding and piercing of metals by laser-produced plasma. The papers from this book can be divided into four groups: 1. stark broadening data for astrophysical and laboratory plasma investigations; 2. applications of spectral lines for astrophysical and laboratory plasma research; 3. spectral line phenomena in extragalactic objects, and 4. laboratory astrophysics results for spectra investigation. The reviews and research papers, representing new research on the topics presented in this book, are of interest for specialists and PhD students. We hope that the present book will be useful and interesting for scientists interested in the investigation of spectral line shapes and will contribute to the education of young researchers and PhD students.

The book uses interviews, informal conversations and extended observation at EDL events to critically reflect on the gap between the movement's public image and activists' own understandings of it. It details how activists construct the EDL, and themselves, as 'not racist, not violent, just no longer silent' inter alia through the exclusion of Muslims as a possible object of racism on the grounds that they are a religiously not racially defined group. In contrast activists perceive themselves to be 'second-class citizens', disadvantaged and discriminated by a 'two-tier' justice system that privileges the rights of 'others'. This failure to recognise themselves as a privileged white majority explains why ostensibly intimidating EDL street demonstrations marked by racist chanting and nationalistic flag waving are understood by activists as standing 'loud and proud'; the only way of 'being heard' in a political system governed by a politics of silencing. Unlike most studies of 'far right' movements, this book focuses not on the EDL as an organisation - its origins, ideology, strategic repertoire and effectiveness - but on the individuals who constitute the movement. Its ethnographic approach challenges stereotypes and allows insight into the emotional as well as political dimension of activism. At the same time, the book recognises and discusses the complex political and ethical issues of conducting close-up social research with 'distasteful' groups.

Is it possible to have mathematics experience in the school courtyard garden? Can we observe plants "with different eyes" and identify the connections between mathematical sciences and plant biology? This booklet contains and comments on three interdisciplinary activities that secondary school mathematics and science teachers can conduct in their classrooms, using the group laboratory work method. The proposed activities concern two apparently distant fields: geometry and botany, and are linked to the laboratory kit "Symmetry: mathematics in the garden" (http://specchi.mat.unimi.it/matematica/matematica_in_giardino.html). This work intends to provide teachers, and not only them, with an unusual classification tool based on symmetry and also with a look at topics that are little known to most people and not usually covered in the school curricula, such as floral diagrams and phyllotaxis.

(Trans)missions: Monasteries as Sites of Cultural Transfers focuses on the Catholic tradition of consecrated life (vita religiosa) from the High Middle Ages to the present. It gathers papers by authors from various disciplinary backgrounds, in particular art history, history, anthropology and translation studies. Finally, it includes two short reports on Czech projects on monastic topics. The chronological and geographical scope of the book is focused on the Western tradition from the High Middle Ages up to the present, specifically in the territory of Central Europe and Spain along with its overseas colonies. The region of Central Europe was interconnected with the Spanish Empire through the Austrian and Spanish Habsburgs, allowing the given topic to be studied in a broader international context, and to involve the Central European and Spanish territories in the global flow of information, thus incorporating the regional and national histories of individual European countries into global history. This involvement is also enabled by the study of interconnecting themes, such as cultural transfers within and between the Old and the New World, information flows between the Spanish and Austrian Habsburgs, the processes of individual and social identity formation, representation and othering of women, and the missionary activities of mendicant orders in the New World, together with their translation practices; and by the contextualization of monastic history and related themes within the processes of European internal and external colonization and evangelization.
