A Theorem for Medical Informatics

Abstract

An analytical structure which defines the information domains for any medical computer project is proposed, and its use is discussed. The field of medical informatics lacks a comprehensive way to describe the limits and content of the information domain within which planned information management projects are expected to perform — and this domain boundary is essential information for the designers, analysts, and programmers who are expected to produce working systems. This paper describes a theoretical structure in which such a descriptive technique is being developed.
